Council tax down as parish council cuts precept by over 15%

Your council tax bill may not be as high as you thought. The parish council sets its precept annually, which is collected via your council tax. The money raised by the precept goes towards maintaining village services. You will be pleased to learn that for 2008/9 the parish council has reduced the precept by 11.8%, representing a real reduction after inflation of over 15%.

 

Bussey’s Loke – “Park there at your peril”

Parishioners are reminded that the highway codes states “do not park your vehicle on the road where it would endanger, inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users. For example….opposite or within 10m of a junction”.  Parking in this junction is preventing larger vehicles accessing Bussey’s Loke and could possibly block the progress of emergency vehicles, especially fire engines. The police will be carrying out random checks to ensure the junction remains clear – you have been warned.

 

New Golf Driving Range for Hempnall – NO

Following complaints from parishioners, we remind you that the playing field near the village hall, for safety reasons, must not be used for golf practice, even if nobody else is on the field. The parish council will be forced to take action if this is ignored. Feel free to contact the clerk with details of any offenders.

 

Play area to receive a face lift and new equipment

On a more positive note, the children’s play area on the Bungay Rd playing field is to undergo cyclical maintenance over the next few months to help return it to a bright and cheerful condition. In addition a seesaw has been installed and for those who prefer a more stable place to sit, a picnic table and seats are on the way.
