New Councillor

John Nolan was finding it increasingly difficult to satisfy the competing demands of an ever-changing Health Service, the responsibilities of his young family and a commitment to the Parish Council. He had very much enjoyed his short term as a member of the Parish Council but felt that he had no choice at this stage but to step down. Fortunately we are able to welcome David Pointer as the new councillor. David was born in Norwich in 1954 and moved to Hempnall in 1964. He works as an Aga cooker engineer based in Morningthorpe. David is an active member of the football club and is interested in sport and travel.

Waste bins/ Dog mess

There is an increasing amount of dog mess being left in the litter bins all year round together with nappy bags in the summer. The Parish Council is considering the provision of specific dog bins but in the meantime please refrain from leaving such items in the litter bins. – Think of the volunteer who has to empty them! We have also received several complaints about dog mess on the pavements, especially along the Street, please think of others, scope it up and take it home.

It’s arrived ! – Hempnall is now connected to broadband

Wheelie bins & Glass

They’ve arrived too! – Any problems please call the helpline on 01603 819999. Don’t forget you can still take your glass to be recycled at the Alburgh Road site as usual; it all helps to reduce your rates.

Nuisance Calls

You can register with the telephone preference service free of charge when you do not want to receive direct marketing calls. To register call the automated service at any time on 0845 07 007 07. A similar service applies to fax numbers, telephone 0845 07 007 02.

Members of the public and press are always welcome to attend Parish Council meetings which are held in the Nelson Room of Hempnall Village Hall at 7.30pm on the following dates; 15/03/05; 17/05/05; 19/07/05; 20/09/05; 15/11/05
